The original animation “Saga Idol is Legend” has become one of the most popular works of the new program in October. As the title says, this work involves a lot of content related to Saga Prefecture. Then, as the relevant person in charge of the local area, what kind of views does Amoy have? Recently, the Japanese media conducted an exclusive interview with him. (with excerpts).

Q: There are two places in this work that surprised me. The first is that I did not expect Saga to be the stage, and the other is that this work has received great support from Saga Prefecture

A: As early as the spring of 2016, the relevant personnel came to talk to us and said: “We created an animated script that combines zombies, idols and Saga. I hope you will provide some ideas. The scene to be played in the work.” Then the people on our side took them to the framing, stayed in Saga City and Karatsu for 2 days and 1 night

Q: What happened after that?

A: The other party let us see the story. However, we have not made any comments on this aspect, because this is not the scope we can refer to. What we are thinking about is how to make local streets, scenic spots and local specialties appear in the works

Q: However, in this work, Saga is ridiculed as “a place that is at stake”…

A: Actually, we don’t care about these more detailed self-segments

Q: Hey, don’t care about these things?

A: Just like when someone is filming a movie or a TV series, you can’t say that because there is a plot of murder in the work, you don’t support others. This is all the same. If there are black segments in the animation, then we have to support it. Moreover, this time, MAPPA, which has produced works such as “Yuri on Ice”, and Cygames, and the three companies of avex pictures, are the works of the production committee, and they are all in 12 episodes and 30 minutes. Directions introduce Saga. I think this is a great promotion

Q: In the works, we can also see scenes including JR Karatsu Station and Saga City Honmaru Historical View

A: I can feel the enthusiasm from the production staff to “make Saga become bustling.” And in the works, the Saga scenery they portrayed is as vivid as a photo, which makes me feel their heart

Q: After the broadcast, this work has caused a lot of discussion on the Internet. What about the response in the county?

A: Previously, seiyuu had commented on the pre-fat Saga final exhibition, and someone has come to ask how the comments in this regard are displayed. In addition, the buildings where the zombies lived are based on the historical folklore museum of the Karatsu City. At present, fans have come to visit. It can be said that I feel that the response is still very enthusiastic

Q: In a survey released in October this year, Saga Prefecture ranked 44th in the 47 prefectures of Japan. So, do you also intend to achieve a reversal through animation?

A: I don’t really care about this list, but I will give some reference. And if you watch the animation, you can make Saga’s ranking increase by 1, 2, which is no better

Q: So what do you think of this animation?

A: I hope to let the locals take a look. Even for everyone, it is a scene in daily life, but through the interpretation of animation, perhaps some flash points can be found. At the same time, there are some places in the works that the local people do not understand, so that everyone can rediscover the charm of Saga Prefecture. And if you can create a warm atmosphere of discussing animation with fans from all over the country, it will be very happy

Q: In the fifth episode aired in early November, Mr. Kinoshita appeared in the mascot coco jun of the chicken restaurant. I really didn’t expect to be able to make a seiyuu debut through this work

A: When I went to visit the dubbing scene in Tokyo, I suddenly received the job, and then I thought, “As long as it is for Saga,” I starred. And I also got the director’s guidance on “to include feelings” and repeatedly said the “co” sound. However, at that time, there was no chance to tell the boss about this matter, or to report it later

Q: Is the boss not angry?

A: After the report, the other party replied: “Ah, Nakano is going to star in the animation, which is very exciting.” (laughs).

“Saga Idol is Legend” tells a story: The protagonist Yu Yanliang was originally a young girl who dreamed of becoming an idol. However, she was killed by a truck when she went out one day. When she reawakened, she found herself a zombie. Since then, she has been asked to become an idol with other zombies, and has since started an idol life where no one can guess the ending…
