One-Punch Man’s Blu-ray BOX & DVD BOX will be released on the 21st of this month. And Season 2, produced by J.C.STAFF, will also be broadcast next spring. For this matter, V-STORAGE interviewed Tomohiro Suzuki, the anime’s series composition. They reviewed the secrets of Season 1’s production, the anime’s focus, and the expectations for Season 2.
The Production Of Season 1
Suzuki said it was the first time for him to be the series composition. And he really felt really pressure at the beginning. Moreover, the original “One-Punch Man” is a powerful and interesting work. Hence, he needed to consider how to put it in the script and shake the warriors’ mind.
Suzuki said he made progress after meeting the staff along the time. He first met the original authors Mr.ONE and Mr.Yuusuke Murata. After that, he also met Director Mr. Shingo Natsumi, staff member Mr. Kubo Dojo and Mr. Chikashi Kubota, who was working as both the character design and Chief Animation Director. There were a lot of staff members in his age. Consequently, all the things, like meetings and opinions exchange, were so great.
The Charm Of The Original
Suzuki think strength is the charm of the original. The main character Saitama gives everyone deeply impression by terminating everything with one punch. Saitama leads the whole story. Although everything can be solved with one punch, it is often not so simple. In order to expand the story, it won’t do so. Instead, it expands gradually to show an interesting story to audiences.

The Emphasis Of The Anime
First of all, Suzuki said, they have decided that Saitama would come out to fight alone in the beginning scene of the first episode. And in the ending scene of final episode, he would fight with Genos. They decided to take about one phase to show that. Besides, in the seventh episode, it starts like a disaster movie. It is the elements to show the anime in a movie way. The opening expresses coolness and awesomeness in the battle, leaving a lingering finish in the ending. It’s a point to make the feeling “finish” like in movies.

The Focus Of “One-Punch Man”
The action scenes are highlight in any scene, Suzuki said. First of all, the audience can watch action scenes that rush suddenly in the B part of episode 1. In episode 5, the scenes of the arrangements between Saitama and Genos are cool masterpieces. Mr. Yuusuke Murata’s original work was really impressive. So all the staff was producing under a strong will to “go beyond the original!”. But I also a little wonder if it became true action scene from Mr. Murata perspective.
From Suzuki’s view, he like the episode 9, the confrontation scene between the Mumen Rider and the The Deep Sea King. He think that there are many people who mention them as famous scenes. But the confrontation scene is a famous scene that Suzuki can not get out easily. Yuichi Nakamura’s amazing performance as Mumen Rider became a scene that can not be forgotten. When in the dubbing room, it was so tense that all the staff was quiet and felt like suffocated.

Expectations For Season 2
Suzuki said he could dig deeply into those characters that were not playing active part in Season 1. It is not surprising that action scenes become an attraction every time. But new characters such as Garo, which is also an anti-hero, and Suiryu. It starts feeling like a group drama. Suzuki is also looking forward to seeing how the intersection of various speculations will be expressed as an anime.
